How Can A Crown From My Dentist In Virginia Beach, VA Make My Smile Healthy?

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 2:50 pm

What are dental crowns, and how can they help make your teeth strong? Find out from your dentist in Virginia Beach, VA. You were enjoying some of the fresh seafood that Virginia Beach is known for when you accidentally bit down on a clam shell and broke one of your teeth. Your tooth is healthy, though, aside from the break, and you really don’t want to have it removed. You want to repair your existing dentition, but you don’t know how this is possible. With natural-looking dental crowns from Hampton Roads Center for Cosmetic Dentistry, your dentist in Virginia Beach, VA, we can restore your smile to its former glory. Find out how this procedure works and what conditions dental crowns treat in this post.

What Are Dental Crowns?

Dr. Carol Morgan explains that dental crowns are tooth-shaped “caps” that fit over your existing teeth or a dental implant. They are made of durable, biocompatible porcelain that blends right in with your natural smile.

What Problems Do Dental Crowns Address?

Porcelain crowns are the superior treatment option for many dental situations. They’re use to:

  • Protect a weak tooth from breaking
  • Hold a broken tooth together and camouflage the break
  • Repair a tooth that’s worn down significantly
  • Support a tooth with a large filling
  • Correct discolored or misshapen teeth
  • Make cosmetic modifications
  • Cover a tooth that has undergone root canal therapy
  • Protect children from tooth decay
  • Treat complex cavities
  • Cover a dental implant

What Is The Process Of Getting A Dental Crown?

Having a dental crown placed is a two-step process:

  • Step One – At the initial visit, Dr. Morgan will examine the problem and possibly take X-rays to check on the roots and bones around the area for your crown. Then, she’ll numb the area and shape your tooth to prepare it. We’ll take impressions and send them to a lab that will create your custom, porcelain crown. Then, we will affix a temporary crown that you can use in the meantime.
  • Step Two – Once the lab completes your individualized crown, we will see you again to remove the temporary crown and cement the permanent one in place. At that point, you’ll be done, so you can start showing off your smile again.

Will Getting A Dental Crown Hurt?

Not at all – we will keep you completely comfortable during the entire process of receiving your dental crown. People often expect the worse when facing an unfamiliar dental procedure, but we’re always happy to answer your questions to assuage your fears. Dr. Morgan always takes her time and makes sure her patients feel entirely educated, and totally at ease while undergoing this treatment.

Now that you know all that a dental crown from Hampton Roads Center for Cosmetic Dentistry can do for your smile, schedule your appointment today – we’ll treat your teeth royally!
