Inlays and onlays are made of porcelain or resin materials that are custom matched to your tooth color and then laser bonded onto your tooth. An inlay is similar to a filling for a cavity, while an onlay extends out to one or more cusps of the tooth.
Because the inlay or onlay is bonded onto the tooth with a laser, the tooth doesn't have to be cut or ground down so that the repair material can adhere. Instead, only the damaged part of the tooth is removed, leaving the tooth stronger and more intact.
